(Penguin) Classic Morrissey

Morrissey’s Autobiography was published in England last week–my copy is enroute from Amazon UK–and, as a fan, I was closely watching the British media reaction. Pre-pub condemnation prompted me to write this essay, and I was excited that The Awl accepted it for publication. Strangely enough, it ties together two interests of mine: Morrissey and publishers’ classics series (e.g., Penguin Classics, Modern Library, Bantam Classics, Signet Classics, etc.). Post-pub reports have been kinder to the Smiths singer, and I look forward to reading it!
